PLOT: This is based on a fairly interesting true story of Marine corporal Megan Leavey. It shows her journey from when she enlisted in the army till lets say an end of an era in her life. Megan Leavey (Kate Mara) is unemployed, friendless and her mother is fed up at her living at home with her and the step-father. Leavey decides to enlist and her journey as an American Soldier begins. Of course she gets drunk with her army friends once joining and gets punished with cleaning up army dogs cells. She meats a rude and stubborn dog named Rex and she finds a way to get into the program that trains and manages the army dogs with help from Gunny Martin (Common) who is a commanding officer at her army training base. After getting her shot she eventually gets stuck with Rex and learns to love him and hate him at the same time.

SCRIPT: The script is missing some details about Megan Leavey’s actual story. It would have been nice if they hired maybe a high school version of her to show the audience a scene which would explain how she became the person she was before she enlisted. When they sneak it into the movie it gets passed by. They maybe don’t have to show it at the begining but maybe when she sleeps they could show us a dream/memory of her as a young girl.

ACTING: Good choices for the five main roles: Kate Mara as Megan Leavey, Tom Felton as Andrew Dean, Edie Falco as Jackie Leavey,  Bradley Whitford as Bob (Leavey’s father) and Common as Gunny Martin. They all had a key role to play and it was important the casting was perfect especially because it is based on a true story. It had to be believable.

MUSICNothing Special. Just exercise/training music.

Sound and Special Effects: When they went to Iraq they had to make you believe that the crowds of people rioting or complaining and the army’s trucks and weapons made certain noises and they did a good job at that. Don’t expect to see some epic army explosion this is not that type of movie.

Costume and Makeup: It was important this was done well. People know what an American soldier looks like, how they dress, haircuts, how wounds look and so much more. This is an army movie based on a person’s life and a true story it is important for these things to align with reality.

Wonder Woman (2017)

  • Overall Rating: 8 Stars
  • Plot: 8 Stars
  • Script: 7 Stars
  • Acting: 8 Stars
  • Music: 7 Stars
  • Sound and Special Effects: 8 Stars
  • Costumes and Makeup: 10 Stars

PLOT:  Before even gaining the title Wonder Woman she had to become the woman she is. The movie shows her as a child. She was fierce and ready to learn how to fight. The only problem was that she was a princess to the Amazons. As she grew up she learned about her history and the battle her mother was apart of before she was born. One day an undercover american pilot named Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) crashes a plane through their invisible fortress and almost drowns. When Princess Diana/Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) saves him. Since she grew up on an island of all women she never saw a man before and asked him about where he came from. He said he came from an endless war, the worst war ever, a war to end all wars. Diana jumps to the conclusion that it is Eris-God of War/Son of Zeus returning to kill and take revenge on man kind once again.

SCRIPT: The script is basic. Don’t look for it to be funny, it’s not a funny Marvel movie! DC has always tried to aim for drama and great action. There are some funny scenes but it is the actors who portray the comedy not really the script.

ACTING: All the actors were terrific the supporting cast was very good. They weren’t all the most recognizable faces but they really did a good job in this movie. There are some mixed reviews however on Danny Huston who plays Ludendorff and Elena Anaya who plays Dr. Maru due to very comic book/overly fictional roles and accents.

MUSICGood classic score music with the Wonder Woman theme we already heard in Batman V. Superman when she first appears in the final battle.

Sound and Special Effects: The sound effects in this movie are mainly swords thrashing against another and WWI military noises. The airplane sound effects sound real and go well in the big crashes and war scenes in the movie. Some of the dessert and airplane scenes look a little fake but it only lasts a couple seconds so it might not matter to most.

Costume and Makeup: Really nice costumes in this film. Besides Wonder Woman’s costume and the beautiful person wearing it the army costumes they had to create were terrific. They made a beautiful depiction of 1914-1918 British clothing and England. You also can’t forget about those Amazons. The clothes, weaponry, tiaras, horse saddles, and building design was unbelievable but yet not too comic book like.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017)

  • Overall Rating: 9 Stars
  • Plot: 7 Stars
  • Script: 8 Stars
  • Acting: 9 Stars
  • Music: 9 Stars
  • Sound Effects: 10 Stars
  • Special Effects: 10 Stars

PLOT: In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 it is all about family dynamic. The movie shows 3 main family crisis: The relationship between Yondu (Michael Rooker) and his old teammate Stakar Ogord (Sylvester Stallone), then you have the two sisters Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and Nebula (Karen Gillan) and finally the big one Star Lord (Chris Pratt) and his father Ego (Kurt Russel). As time goes on in this movie you see how they all have affected each others past and present and why they all can’t get along.

SCRIPT: The script is again unbelievable just like the first great comedy just when you need it. You may even be caught off guard sometimes and that’s the best part of it all. It maybe something you need to watch to get but if you’ve seen the first you get my point.

ACTING: The acting in this film helps you love the characters even more than the first especially Baby Groot (Vin Diesel). Bradley Cooper does an amazing job at potraying Rocket the Raccoon’s sarcasm and if you have seen videos of him doing the voice you can see he puts his whole body and sole into the character. Kurt Russel as Ego (The Living Planet) shows so many different sides of himself in this movie. He portrays angry, happy, hopeful and knowledgeable in so many different ways that his acting was why I liked the scenes he was in.

MUSICWe got themed music for this one and I don’t mean time related really like a compilation of 70’s and 80’s songs. We got some music that was just meant for certain scenes but most had to do with families, mothers, fathers and children. This all kept the theme of the movie going. The Soundtrack is great just check out the remake of Fox on the Run by The Sweet.

Sound Effects: Nice, great sound mixing and sound effects in this picture. We are that the point now that Marvel and Disney know what to use and who to use.

Special Effects: It takes place in outer space and half the characters are in full blown makeup, toys or covered in machines. That’s why it deserves at 10/10 because it ain’t cheap and they didn’t cheap out.
