Free Fire (2017)

(SPOILERS-WHY IT GOT WHAT IT GOT)

PLOT: So you got 5 people buying guns in a sketchy warehouse in the 70’s met by middle man Ord (Armie Hammer) who then introducers them to the seller Vernon (Sharlto Copley) and his goons. Vernon tries to sell them the wrong type of gun on purpose which gets Chris (Cillian Murphy) kind of cheesed. Besides that, one of the 5 buyers did something stupid the night before which affected a relationship of one of the seller’s goons which then started a chain events that was just one gun shot after another. Throughout the movie you constantly hope your favorite team, actor, or character will end up taking the money that is in a suitcase in the middle of the battle. It is great in the sense you can’t predict the ending to this movie.

SCRIPT: The script is decent for the amount of conversing that went on in this movie. Most of the things said were funny or like who just shot me. It is also hard to follow the characters and who shot who so look out for that. Thankfully do to great character development and accents from all over the world you can kind of understand who said what. 

ACTING: This is where we get into the 2 teams. They all were terrific at playing their role especially Sharlto Copley as Vernon, Brie Larson as Justine, Cillian Murphy as Chris amd Armie Hammer as Ord. Most of these actors are highly underrated or under used but this movie really shows the comedy and action stars in each character you may not of known they could play. Oh, and Martin Scorsese is the Executive Producer if it means anything to you.

MUSIC: Unfortunately the music wasn’t there. They could of had a lot of great 70’s music and maybe even extended a scene or two just for that to really get you pumped or excited. All you get is a John Denver song.

Sound Effects: Guns, fire and explosions sound effects. What more do you need? There is a good chance this films sound effects wouldn’t of changed if the film was made in the 90’s. Everything they had was well used and used at the right time for the right object.

Special Effects: With guns, fire and explosions constantly being used in a shootout movie its important it is done right or realisticly. There is a good chance this films sound effects wouldn’t of changed if the film was made in the 90’s. Everything they had was well used and used at the right time for the right object. Though I’ve never pored gasoline and lit a fire I’m sure it would go up in flames.

The Fate of the Furious 2017

PLOT: In The Fate of the Furious this time 1 of them goes rogue. Obviously it has to be their leader Dom (Vin Diesel) due to the blond bitch Cipher (Charlize Theron). It all starts when she says to him I got dirt on you, you don’t want getting out. Then of course that’s where it gets furious. A little week I think they could of had a better plot line for their 8th maybe incorporating more of what they did do right for this movie Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) vs Deckard (Jason Statham). As the two biggest haters join forces to stop the fastes and the most furious of all Dom.

SCRIPT: Besides the fact it should have been called The Feight of the Furious or F8 of the Furious you’re getting great jokes from Tyrese Gibson and Ludacris with surprisingly some hilarious parts from Jason Statham. Besides them classic jokes like “We Got a Tank” and everybody hating on Roman (Tyrese Gibson) especially Mr. Nobody (Kurt Russell) it’s hard to say if this is a money grab action sequel or a do right by the Franchise while making money movie. Either way it didn’t matter about the name or the script they made a shit tone.

ACTING: Everybody is just themselves from previous Fast and the Furious movies and even other stuff you’d seen them in. If you love an actor or a character you’ll see this movie just for the enjoyment of seeing that actor or character. The cars get the Oscar though because without the cars the film would just be jacked dudes and comedians talking shit to eachother.

MUSIC: With songs inspired by the movie and songs made for the movie. It is perfect! They know how the music should portray the movie and how the movie should potray the music. Though I wish they used Wiz Khalifa again for the main theme they still have another song done by him. have The song they chose is very good “Good Life” by G-Eazy & Kehlani. 

Sound Effects: Maybe over exaggerated. I mean but still done better than a lot of other movies with cars that go really fast. Do we know what a Tank or Submarine should sound like?

Special Effects: Great maybe repetitive or over used ones but hey they have the money to make things go boom shicka bing bang boom booooom bliffboom baboom kaboom boom when they maybe could of went boom kaboom boom with fire.

Going In Style (2017)

(SPOILERS-WHY IT GOT WHAT IT GOT)

PLOT: It is about 3 old guys who rob a bank, what’s not to love? Already I’m interested! It all starts when Joe (Michael Caine) has to go to the bank to check out what’s up with his mortgage. Turns out not so good for him then not so good for the bank as it gets robbed. Eventually he meets up with his friends Willie (Morgan Freeman) and Albert (Alan Arkin) and when they all go to work they realize their pensions disappear. That’s when Joe suggests let’s rob a bank!

SCRIPT: Zach Braff really knew what he was doing with these actors but I think as the script developed the actors had to make the script better. Though really funny it could have been funnier. When you’re working with these big names you expect greater things.

ACTING: Morgan, Alan, and Michael all huge names in Hollywood. If you liked even 1 of the what seems like 1000s of Freeman-Caine Movies out there you’re sure to like this one. Alan Arkin does a great job of playing what seems like a few of his other roles but still he’s funny. Then you got Matt Dillon who hasn’t really been funny since “There’s Something About Mary” which came out in 1998 but he tries. You remember Christopher Lloyd well his hilarious character Milton may not remember you because as you know most people with Dementia got issues.

MUSIC: Nothing special but a couple popular songs in scenes any song could of went in. No real soundtrack hear.

Sound Effects: Good for what they needed. Talking, cracking jokes and gun noises.

Special Effects: No real explosions or bomb threats though if there’s a sequel it would be cool to see them go all out.

Avengers Age of Ultron (2015)

(SPOILERS-WHY IT GOT WHAT IT GOT)

PLOT: Since it’s a superhero movie that came out after the Avengers it’s expected to be an unbelievable film. But it was sloppy and overly serious as apposed to scary. When the trailer first came out you got chills from hearing Ultron’s voice. When the movie came out the voice sounded less scary and more serious. The movie is of course about the Avengers but it’s also about their place in the world after the alien attack from the first movie. It brings into affect that Tony Stark/Iron Man just wants peace after the event and after finding the spear from the first movie he realizes it can help him complete a theoretical project called Ultron. Of course things take a turn for the worse and Ultron is born.

SCRIPT: Script was good. It kept with the same characteristics that made the last ones good. The Age of Ultron had a lot of one liners especially from Ultron. You notice a lot more jokes if you watch it more than once. Written and Directed by Joss Whedon.

ACTING: The acting is good due to the cast. We’re familiar with the cast and most people know the actors from other big pictures. The new addition: James Spader, who plays the voice of Ultron portrays him very well. The only problem is where’s the darkness that came out in the trailer, how did the character loose that spark? If you haven’t seen the trailers there is probably a great chance you’d really appreciate the casting and acting choices for the character. If they ever remake the Fantastic Four James Spader would make the perfect Doctor DOOM!

MUSIC: The music in a film is very important to how we feel. They got the sad points down but when Ultron is on the screen you wanna feel the EVIL, DEATH, EXTINCTION and DESTRUCTION the character talks about and music is supposed to help with that.

Sound Effects: Really terrific! They have nailed all of the Iron Man type suits noises, got the shield noise down, and mastered the Hulk Smash and Thor’s hammer with extra energy and bursts of thunder.

Special Effects: Really good which is essential, especially because of a villain that’s a machine/robot/android. They knew it couldn’t look like a Cyber Man from Dr.Who. This film looks better in regular Blue-Ray or HD formatting instead of 3D due to the details in all the action scenes that you may miss if somethings pop out at you more than others.

Chips (2017)

(SPOILERS-WHY IT GOT WHAT IT GOT)

PLOT: It’s a Classic buddy buddy movie. 2 California Highway Patrol Cops or CHiPs, learn to live with each other’s stupidity and bad habits. Dax Shepard plays Jon Baker a retired extreme sports motorcyclist due to way too many bad injuries with marriage problems. He only joined the CHiPs to impress his slutty bitch of an ex-wife played by actual wife Kristen Bell. Then you have the horny FBI Agent undercover as Frank ‘Ponch’ Poncherello played by Michael Peña. As one tries to put his marriage back on track and the other tries to keep his job it makes for a relatively funny movie.

SCRIPT: Full credit goes to Dax Shepard on this script. He wrote and directed this film which is based on the 1977 TV Series. After he found the appropriate cast for their roles it seems like the hard part was probably done. But it’s a comedy film written by Dax Shepard. Do you know what his comedy track record is? If you’ve seen his other stuff then this is a huge step up for him.

ACTING: Dax and Pena are both great in this movie. We already know Michael Pena is one funny guy if you’ve seen him in Ant-Man. Then you have Vincent D’Onofrio who plays the big bad antagonist in the film. He might be getting into the habit of playing the same type of character but if you play the villain well, then play the villain. Sometimes those are the best roles anyway.

MUSIC: Nothing special and nothing memorable. Whoever picked the music for this movie wasn’t picking it so fans can get pumped or excited at a scene just because some awesome song was playing.

Sound Effects: Good for what they needed. Motorcycle noises, guns, and ammunition. Nothing to complain about except for maybe 1 or 2 over exaggerated explosions.

Special Effects: Poor for a film that suppose to be about an ex-motorcyclist. Come on let’s see some more ridiculous tricks. Where’s the rings of fire at? They focused more on set design and putting their money into the expensive motorcycles you see in the movie. If they showed more of their lives before the month they met like from 2010-2016 era it would of been more expected to see effects. They actually handled the effects well for an action comedy. Not a lot to complain about except for maybe 1 or 2 over exaggerated or even unnecessary explosions.

Baked In Brooklyn (2016)

(SPOILERS-WHY IT GOT WHAT IT GOT)

PLOT: The movie is semi-told from him narrating his life. Based on a true story: It’s all about a young adult named David Shapiro working a job that he hates. Never mind that he gets fired. While trying to find his life’s purpose he meets a beautiful girl every guy would be lucky to have. He eventually realizes that selling pot is the fastest way to make money, if done properly. He neglects his girlfriend and his friends and as time goes on he realizes life sucks.

SCRIPT: Very basic script and it’s a pretty basic movie too. It’s listed under comedy but you don’t get much laughs. The script doesn’t allow you to relate to the character even though you may have experienced the following: if you’ve ever been fired, not been able to find a job, been neglected, or finding a life’s purpose or sold pot.

ACTING: Josh Brener plays a pretty good paranoid person/pot dealer. You can tell he got into the mind constantly frightened person/drug addict (even though he never actually does pot he does other things). Alexandra Daddario has a couple body revealing scenes (nothing considered full nudity) which let’s be honest if you’re getting her in your movie it’s to grab a certain demographic’s attention. The friends of the character in the movie played by Paul Iacono and Tyrone Brown do a great job of filling out the supporting cast.

MUSIC: The music in the movie is very indie. Nothing spectacular that stood out. If you love that relaxed stuff you’ll really enjoy the music in this film. Since the character writes a music blog it makes sense that it would be hard to find music.
